Nea Skioni

Nea Skioni sits on the west side of the Kassandra Peninsula, near its end. You will not find it difficult to reach this destination from Thessaloniki Airport that is just 112 kilometers away from here.

The scheduled buses regularly depart to Nea Skioni from the Halkidiki bus station. The fare is about 13€ per person. However, to catch the bus to Nea Skioni, you will need to get to the station from the airport first. The cost of a trip from the airport to the bus station is cheap, only 1€.

If you wish keep to your nerves and time safe, you can order a transfer to the settlement. The trip will cost you about 100-120€.

Travelers have finally got one more way to get into the settlement – to rent a car in Thessaloniki airport. The hire of the vehicle is possible only if a person has an international driver’s license, has attained 21 years of age, and has the driving experience of more than two years.

A few miles away from Nea Skioni, you can visit the church of Panagia Faneromeni, preserving a marble cube with a face of Holy Mary. People built the church in the XVI century. It is associated with many legends. According to one of them, the face produces myrrh before terrible events – world wars and disasters. What is especially interesting about this place is that all religious services and processions take place outside the building since it is too small in size and cannot house all its congregations.

Another popular site is the artificial lake. It is regarded as one of the largest man-made ponds on the peninsula. Very day, it welcomes fishing boats and yachts. You should keep it in mind that Nea Skioni is relatively small in size. You will not find active nightlife and fashionable boutiques here.

Entertainment for children

There are no specialized centers and parks for the entertainment of children in Nea Skioni. If you want to have fun with kids, you will need to take a drive to one of the nearby settlements, which provide a diverse choice of such centers.

Hanioti, set 9 kilometers away from Nea Skioni, invites to unwind at its bouncy castle slides; Pefkochori features terrific amusement rides at the promenade, and Glarokavos boast of having an inflatable park right in the sea.

You can find all the necessary goods at the local shops and stalls in the city center. Their prices do not differ significantly from the ones applied at other settlements of Halkidiki, but in general, they are much lower compared to the price policy on the islands.

Since Nea Skioni is a fishing village, you will always find a rich choice of fresh seafood. The improvised market opens right by the port every morning and evening. If you plan to prepare meals during holidays on your own, this might become a pleasurable advantage
