What to see?

Sarti has a rich history: in the 5th century BC, it was one of the most important and influential cities of the Halkidiki peninsula. But the ancient sights didn’t survive here. One of the interesting places to visit in Sarti is the Church of the Assumption, built by refugees on the spot of the old temple. The church is painted with frescoes inside. On August 15, Sarti celebrates the day of the Assumption of the Theotokos, and the main events develop near the church. The amazing views of mount Athos are the other attraction in Sarti. It is better to enjoy them from the eastern side of the coast.

Modern Sarti was founded by refugees from the island of Aficia in Asia Minor. Their descendants founded a cultural center where a Folklore museum has worked. You can see historical photos, documents and household items in it. The Museum is situated in an old elementary school built in 1928 and is open only on weekends.
