Walk around Hora
The capital of Antiparos (Chora) is the largest city of the island, hosting newly arrived tourists. It attracts with traditional Cycladic architecture and picturesque streets full of flowers. Chora was built around the Venetian castle - a monument from 1440, which protected Antiparos from pirates. Today, this castle is considered the central attraction of the Old Town. Several ancient churches have been preserved on its territory. During a walk in Chora, you can visit the Museum of Cycladic Art, dine in a tavern right by the sea and buy souvenirs in numerous shops.
Get to the cave of Antiparos
9 km from Chora is the natural wonder of the island - the cave of Antiparos. Even in ancient times, it was used as a refuge, and then - as a place of worship for deities. The cave was explored in the 15th century, and after 200 years, a stalagmite in the shape of an altar was found in it. Today it is the main attraction of the cave along with other stalagmites and stalactites of the most bizarre forms. At the entrance you can see the oldest stalagmite in Europe - its age is about 45 million years. And next to it stands the white chapel of Agios Ioannis Spiliotis of the 18th century.
Relax on the best beaches of the island
Antiparos is an island of excellent and, what is also important, calm beaches. Even in high season they are not crowded. Glyfa beach with golden sand is located 4 km from Hora. This is an ideal place for a family holiday: the sea is shallow, without waves, there are taverns and all the infrastructure nearby. 3 km from Chora is the beach of Panagia, surrounded by trees. This sandy coast will appeal to those who have long wanted to escape from the hustle and bustle of cities. And for lovers of a lively atmosphere, it is better to choose Psaraliki with its taverns, clubs, sports activities and clear sea.

For those who love active holidays, Antiparos offers many alternatives to the beaches. From Hora, the 11-kilometre hiking route begins along the northern coast of the island, through secluded beaches and hills that offer spectacular views. In clear weather, from a height you can see the outlines of the islands of Serifos and Sifnos. No less exciting will be the hiking route from the village of Agios Georgios past the chapel of Profitis Ilias. If you want to see the coast of Antiparos, its bays and capes from the sea, the island will offer trips on fishing boats and with the opportunity to relax on isolated beaches. The cuisine of Antiparos is based on organic products, so tasting local dishes should be part of a day trip to the island. It is worth trying grilled octopus or fish with lemon juice, traditional island rabbit stew (prepared in August, during the hunting season), zucchini with mizithra cheese, yoghurt with fragrant honey for dessert and tsikoudia, which accompanies any meal on Antiparos. Snail appetizer is also incredibly popular on the island, and as an independent dish it is served with sauce and rice.
