The developing resort town of Kiotari on the island of Rhodes is a sure choice for those who are tired of popular destinations. Here you can find what the bustling Faliraki lacks: tranquility and leisurely pace. Kiotari is usually recommended for families, couples, older vacationers, and those who have long wanted to escape the hustle and bustle. The holiday season in Kiotari lasts from May to October. During this time, the air temperature ranges from +26 °C to +32 °C. The most comfortable months to visit are May, June, and September, when the heat is barely noticeable.

How to get

Kiotari is located on the southeastern coast of Rhodes, 60 km from the island's capital. There are several ways to get to the resort:

  • Bus. It departs from the bus station in Rhodes town and goes to Gennadi, making a stop in Kiotari along the way. Buses run approximately once an hour and arrive in Kiotari in about 1.5 hours. The fare is around 7-8 euros. There are also buses from Lindos to Kiotari. They depart several times an hour, and the trip costs 3 euros.
  • Transfer. If you need to get to Kiotari from Rhodes Airport, it's better to arrange a transfer in advance. This is because using public transport to reach the resort will be inconvenient: first, you need to take a bus from the airport to the capital, and then transfer to a bus to Kiotari. A transfer is a faster and more comfortable option.
  • Rental car. You can rent a car not only at the airport and in the capital of Rhodes but also in any other city on the island.

How to move?

In Kiotari, there are car and bicycle rental points. However, you can also get around the village on foot: the distances here are small, and everything is located compactly. Kiotari is crossed by intercity bus routes that can take you to Lindos, Rhodes, or neighboring beach resorts.

What to see?

In Kiotari itself, there is nothing to see except for the Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord located near the waterfront. However, 4 km away from the resort is the village of Asklipio. On the way there, you can make a stop near the churches of Agios Nektarios and Agios Georgios. Asklipio is a picturesque mountain settlement with white houses and a historical atmosphere. Above it rises the fortress of the Knights Hospitaller from the 14th century. From the height of the ruins, breathtaking views of the mountains open up.

In addition to the fortress in Asklipio, it is worth visiting the folklore museum, the ruins of the ancient temple of Asclepius, and the ancient church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. It was built in the 11th century and is famous for its frescoes. 18 km from Kiotari is Lindos — one of the most historically important cities in Rhodes. Its Acropolis is a collection of ancient treasures in the open air. Climbing up to it, you can see a Byzantine church, medieval walls, and an ancient temple with pagan sanctuaries. The modern part of Lindos is a charming resort town with whitewashed houses and a sandy bay.

By purchasing one ticket, you can use it all day.

Also popular on Rhodes is kakavia soup - a local fish soup. And of course, no tavern is complete without meze (an assortment of appetizers) and moussaka on the menu. All of this can be found in the traditional Greek taverns of Kiotari. In addition to them, there are pizzerias, fast food places, pastry shops, seafood restaurants, and establishments with sea views in the resort town.
