Thessaloniki - Santorini: how to get there
Disputes about the details of the history of Santorini have not subsided so far. There is no point in arguing about it - this is an island of amazing beauty that fascinates and attracts millions of tourists every year. The number of options for living on this island is very large. Many choose Santorini for their honeymoon and rent private villas with sea views. You can get here from many regions of Greece. Thessaloniki is no exception.
By plane from Thessaloniki to Santorini
Well-established air links allow you to quickly and comfortably get from Thessaloniki to Santorini without transfers. The flights are operated by the following airlines:

- Astra Airlines.
The price of a one-way ticket is from 45 to 140 euros . Flights operate several times a day, so you can easily buy a ticket at the last moment.
Tourists in Santorini are met by an international airport located near the village of Kamari. You can get from it to the capital of the island, Fira, by transfer or by bus, which leaves every 15 minutes.
Please note that airfare to Santorini varies by season. The most expensive are on Christmas Eve and in July-August. The most affordable are in February-May and in autumn, starting from mid-September
Ferry from Thessaloniki to Santorini
There is no direct ferry service between Thessaloniki and Santorini. You can get through Athens , having reached the capital of Greece by car, train and bus, or flying by plane. Then there are three ports to choose from:
- Piraeus is the largest port in Greece, from which approximately 8 ferries depart to Santorini per day. The earliest is at 7:00, the latest is after 21:00. Travel time from Piraeus to Santorini is 4.5-8.5 hours. The cheapest ticket will cost 40 euros one way;
- Rafina is the second most important port of Attica, located in the city of the same name. It can be reached from Athens Airport by bus in 20 minutes. Rafina operates ferries to the Cyclades. Ships to Santorini depart twice a day and spend 5.5 to 8.5 hours at sea. Ticket price - from 35 euros;
- Lavrio - ferries to Santorini rarely depart from this port, the schedule needs to be clarified every season.
Some tourists take a car rented on the mainland with them. In this case, you will have to pay extra from 80 to 150 euros for transporting a vehicle. It is worth remembering that this option is not available on every ferry.
Traveling to Santorini from Thessaloniki loses to the flight both in terms of profit and time. It takes at least 6 hours to get to Piraeus. Taking into account the waiting time and travel time, you will have to spend at least 14-16 hours on the road.
However, you can find a sea cruise from Athens and visit several Cyclades at once.
